Rotary Hepatitis Camp

The Rotary Club, Coimbatore North Unit conducted a free Hepatitis check up camp at Bakers on the 27th November. The Rotary District Governor Dr. Ajay Nair was also present on the occasion. Besides the blood test conducted for all the employees and management Dr.Ganesh, a gasteroenterologist also gave an awareness talk on the disease.

Diwali Campaign

Bakers went all out to celebrate Diwali with a series of spectacular ads in the Times of India's supplements.

Dr.Chef Damu Workshop

Bakers sponsored the Dr.Chef Damu workshop organised by the Kovai Foodies team on the 2nd of October at the Rathina Regency in Covai. We are glad to say that the session was a grand success.

Ripu Daman Handa Workshop

The Vegetarian cookery workshop by Amul Master Chef Season 3 winner Ripu Daman Handa at the Residency Kovai was a great success. The event organised by Rinky Shah and the Kovai Shopping team was sponsored by Bakers. The participants were thrilled to meet Ripu, interact with him and learn from him. Pravesh Vij of Bakers welcomed the gathering.   

Madurai-Dindigul Visit

The Bakers team of Yogesh and Pravesh Vij, Muthu Krishnan and Nimal of Trioka made a visit to Madurai and Dindigul markets on Friday, 19th July 2013. Bakers is doing fairly well in both markets

Cookery Workshop

Bakers is sponsoring a cookery show by Master Chef 2 winner Ripu Daman Handa orgainsed by Kovai Shopping at the Residency on the 3rd of August, Saturday morning 10 O'clock. All are welcome.

Bangalore Market Visit

The Bakers team of Naresh and Pravesh Vij, Bhavani Shanker, brand consultant Nimal of Trioka and the Bhatinda distributor Hitender Kakaria of Super Spices made a visit to the Bangalore markets on the 4th and 5th of July. They were accompanied by Anantha Padmanabha and the sales officers from the Bangalore stockist Pratibha Marketing.

Pav Bhaji Masala

Pav Bhaji is a spicy dish that originated in Mumbai cuisine, mainly as a fast food. Of late it has achieved cult status being part of celebrity weddings and even infiltrating into five star restaurants.  The word Pav has its origins in the Portuguese Pao, which means bread. Bhaji in Marathi means vegetable dish.  Bhaji is a thick potato-based curry, garnished with coriander leaves, chopped onion, and a dash of lemon. The general procedure for making the Bhaji remains the same. Potatoes are mashed on a flat griddle (Tava), and made into a thick gravy after adding sliced tomatoes, finely chopped onion, green peas and chopped capsicum (green bell pepper). Other assorted vegetables such as cauliflower and carrots are mashed and added. Garlic too is added at times to spice it up. A special blend of spices simply called the Pav Bhaji Masala is added to this thick gravy giving the bhaji its authentic slightly orange brown color. Channa Masala

Channa Masala, also known as Chole Masala is a North Indian dish which has also of late become very popular in the south. The name comes from Chickpeas which is the main ingredient and is called Channa in Hindi. The other ingredients may differ according to the taste of the person preparing it but usually include onions, chopped tomatoes, coriander seeds, garlic, chillies, ginger, dried mango powder, crushed pomegranate seeds and garam masala. The end product is usally dry, spicy and with a citrusy taste. It is consumed along with bhatura or roti items. Some add potatoes into the dish to prepare  aloo channa.

Chaat Masala

Chaat Masala is a spice  mix, used in Indian Cuisine . It typically consists dried mango  powder, cumin,  black salt, coriander,  dried ginger, salt, black pepper, asafoetida and chili powder.It has both a sweet and sour taste. It is used to flavour typical Indian fast foods like Bhel Puri, Dahi Puri, Golgappa and Aloo Chaat. It is also sprinkledon fruit, egg toasts and regular salads.Street vendors usually mix their own chaats. For sprinkling on fruits they may use less of cumin, coriander and ginger and use more of chilli, salt, asafoetida and mango powder.

Paneer Bhurji Pav Recipe

(Serves 2) Ingredients: 1 cup crumbled/grated fresh Paneer(Cottage Cheese) 1 medium Onion,finely chopped 2 Green chillies,finely chopped 1/2" Ginger, finely chopped 1 Tomato, finely chopped 1 small Capsicum,finely chopped 1 tsp Ginger Garlic paste 1/2 tsp Bakers Red chilli powder 1/4 tsp Bakers Garam masala 1 tsp Bakers Pav Bhaji masala 1/4 tsp Bakers Turmeric powder 1 tbsp Lemon juice 2 tbsp Coriander,chopped Salt to taste 1 tbsp Oil 2 tbsp Butter Method: • Heat oil in a kadai/pan and add finely chopped onions and green chillies and fry until the onions turn pink. • Add ginger-garlic paste and fry well. • Now add finely chopped capsicum and fry for a minute and then add chopped tomatoes and saute until it becomes slightly mushy. • Now add Bakers garam masala, Bkers pav bhaji masala, Bakers red chilli powder and Bakers turmeric powder and fry for a minute. • Add crumbled paneer and salt and give a good mix and saute for a couple of minutes.The mixture should be moist...
